​​​Welcome to the American Support Standards Institute (AMSI)!

 

AMSI is a volunteer-run initiative that develops quality standards for support services for disabled people, using the same Inclusive Quality approach described above.

 

On this website, the word “disabilities” is used in a broad medical and social sense. It includes people who are older, who live with chronic health conditions, intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), injuries, or other conditions that affect daily life or work.

 

We also use the word “support” broadly, including help at home, in the community, in employment settings, and in caregiving roles.

 

AMSI standards are based on real work in the field and are written by people who see the day-to-day needs of disabled people and their supporters. AMSI was started by Michael Petrovsky and continues as a volunteer-run public initiative, not a separate company or commercial enterprise.
